At Legend Danang Golf Resort, Greg Norman has created a wonderfully authentic links golf course which deservedly snuck into Golf Digest's 2022 list of the best 100 courses in the world. The generous fairways, firm enough to offer good roll, bleed gently into the natural local vegetation, bumps and hollows, huge bunkers and sandy waste areas. Excellent greens and some standout holes mark this as one of our favourite courses in Vietnam.
In keeping with its design philosophy you won’t find much water, with just a couple of forced carries to negotiate, but there's plenty of undulation and the blustery conditions mean that you can't fully relax. The greens have enough movement to keep you on your toes without being sadistic, and the course is kept in immaculate condition, and is all the more visually stunning for it.
On the front nine, the standout holes include the the 4th and 5th, a pair of par 5s that each clock in at nearly 600 yards from the black tips, with the former particularly tricky as the green is hidden until you are within 150 yards of the pin.
However, it's the back nine where the real magic lies, kicking off with the long par-5 10th, which zigzags through the dunes with the jawdropping backdrop of the Marble Mountains. A green bisected by a dangerous ridge ensures that a par remains in doubt even if you can reach the putting surface in regulation.
After the very long par-4 13th, which is stroke index 1 for good reason (you'll do very well to be putting in regulation), there's some light relief at what is probably the best of the par 4s, the driveable 14th, which plays from an elevated tee. Ideally you can clear the central bunker which is exactly where you wish it wasn't, but you still have options if you play either side, depending on where the pin is positioned.
The signature is the par-3 16th, short at just 148 yards but not easy as it plays into the wind to an elevated green framed by sea; in truth it's not the hardest hole, but it's a glorious sight to behold.
With the large clubhouse offering 5-star facilities and first-class service, including some of the best food options in the region, it all adds up to a truly stunning golfing experience with few equals in Southeast Asia. No golf holiday in Da Nang can be complete without a round at the Norman Course at Legend Danang Golf Resort.

Damaged green due to recent rain

Greens were in dreadful condition. Many under repair, patchy, slow and bumpy, no confidence putts would stay on line. Worst greens ever played. This was a shame as fairways in reasonable condition, a good, challenging, albeit bland, design with many strategically placed bunkers, yet playable for all levels. Not a true links just a links style design. Only one hole by sea. Caddies were friendly and helpful. Lovely clubhouse, good food and service. Pro shop lacked variety with very few items with course logo/ name. Would not rush back.Wonderfully maintained course. Challenging, but very playable for all levels of golfers.
